Zeppotron co-founder exits for All3Media’s Objective
UK prodco Objective has hired Ben Caudell as head of comedy.
Caudell was one of the cofounders of Zeppotron, the UK producer now owned by Endemol. Another of its founders, Charlie Brooker, recently set up his own Endemol-backed production company House of Tomorrow.
At All3Media-owned Objective, Caudell will report to CEO Andrew Newman, and oversee development of new comedy series. He will also exec-produce the producer’s current slate of comedy shows when he joins later this year.
He said: “Objective has produced some of the best scripted comedy of the last decade and, as a consummate TV professional, I couldn’t turn down this opportunity to hang on the coattails of someone else’s success and take credit for something I had nothing to do with. Also, now I can walk to work.”
Andrew Newman added: “As creative director of Zeppotron, Ben’s made some brilliantly funny shows and worked with some very talented writers and performers. Since working with him back on The Eleven O’Clock Show, I’ve always thought he’s been a skilled producer with a great sense of humour, so I am very glad that he’s has agreed to join Objective as head of comedy.”
