Sam & Cat cancelled after one season
Nickelodeon’s live-action comedy Sam & Cat has been cancelled after one season.
This comes after the show was put on hiatus in April amid rumours of conflict between the show’s stars Jenette McCurdy and Ariana Grande (above, left and right respectively), and issues over salaries.
“Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best,” the Viacom-owned channel said in a statement.
Grande, whose mainstream music career has taken off in the past year, posted a message to Twitter thanking Nick and Dan Schneider, who created both Sam & Cat and its predecessor, Victorious.
International networks such as Brazil’s Bandeirantes and Canada’s VRAK TV acquired the show, which Viacom International Media Networks holds global to.
