Mum of the Week lined up in four more territories
French format Mum of the Week is being remade for four international broadcasters in territories ranging from Poland to Turkey.
Furthermore, UK-based distributor Can’t Stop Media said the format, which French DTT channel D8 originally commissioned, is in development in another 12 territories.
Among the announced commissions, Finnish broadcaster Nelonen has ordered a 10-part run that Banijay’s local production operation to create.
Elsewhere, Can’t Stop is working with TVN and Golden Media Polska in Poland on a 16-part run that will launch as a weekly show in September.
In Turkey, Kanal Turk has commissioned prodco HMO to produce a 45-episode series, while Russia’s CTC has ordered a pilot for this summer.
Can’t Stop has also optioned the show to Sony Pictures Television-backed Victory Television in the UK, Endemol in Italy, Zodiak Media in Spain, Banijay in Sweden, SeaPoint Productions in Germany, North Sea Camels in the Netherlands, FremantleMedia in Flemish-speaking Belgium and SEO in Austria and Switzerland.
“Advanced” talks are also continuing in the US, Asia and Latin America, according to Can’t Stop, which is coproducing the original French version with Equilibre Production ahead of a fall launch on D8.
The format sees four mothers from different social backgrounds showcase their life and parenting style to the others, and are then rated on their performance. The winner is crowned ‘Mum of the Week’.
Can’t Stop CEO Matthieu Porte said Mum of the Week had become the “fastest selling format among the hundreds launched at MIPTV” in April.
