Pact links UK indies with US commissioners
The UK independent producers association Pact has launched an app that connects its members with commissioners from US channels.
The TV Commissions app goes live tomorrow with full details for 70 executives that commission for US channels and more will be added over time.
The free app launch comes as UK producers increasingly target US cable channels, which are commissioning original programming in greater volumes each year. In turn, US channels spend about £475 million(US$814 million) annually on UK-originated programming, according to Pact.
Pact chief executive John McVay (pictured) said: “American buyers already know the Brits and our content very well – UK content is in high demand internationally and especially in the US, where they appreciate our products for their high quality. They are also increasingly commissioning UK independent producers for the US networks.”
The app complements a UK-specific commissioners equivalent, which rolled out in 2013. Both apps are available for Apple devices.
