WOWOW restructures production divisions
Japanese pay TV broadcaster WOWOW has reorganised its domestic and international production divisions.
Tetsuya Nasuno will oversee all of the premium channel operator’s programme making units, which will be organised into television, movies, sports, drama and music. A new digital department has also been created.
Veteran producer Eiji Omura will oversee production including the company’s LA office, run by Kayo Washio.
Nobuyuki Otaka, former general manager of Wowow’s corporate strategy division, and Tsutomu Makino, former general manager of the programming division, both join the company’s board.
Wowow is an active acquirer of international programming and is also now coproducing. It is a copro partner on Martin Scorsese’s doc The New York Review of Books: A 50 Year Argument, PBS doc Sacred, Wim Wenders architecture series Cathedrals of Culture and music doc Cameron Carpenter: The Rebirth of Majest (pictured).
