Russian net buys German improv comedy remake rights
Russian channel CTC has acquired local remake rights to German improv comedy Schiller Street.
The format, which Red Arrow International sells globally, will sit alongside other sitcoms on the Russian net’s schedule that comprise “the core of CTC primetime broadcasting”, according to chief content officer Vyacheslav Murugov.
The set-up sees a number of comedians without a script interacting with a flow of surprise guests on stage.
Schiller Street launched on Sat.1 in 2004 and ran until 2011. It has been sold to more than 20 territories – recently by Chinese statecaster CCTV1.
“Eastern European countries are as format hungry as ever,” said Shakira Hoffman, senior sales manager, CEE, Red Arrow International. “Russian broadcasters are always eager to try new things to find the right entertainment gems for their market. With its international track record Schiller Street is the perfect show for CTC.”
