Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One creates Canadian cookery show
Jamie Oliver’s production company Fresh One Productions will coproduce a Canadian cooking competition show for the W Network.
The 10x60mins Pressure Cooker is the first show to come out of Fresh One’s strategic creative partnership with Bristow Global Media, which is former CBC programming boss Julie Bristow’s indie.
The pair’s partnership sees them co-develop formats for the Canadian market with “eye to international distribution”.
Pressure Cooker is set for Corus Entertainment-owned channel W, and will launch in the autumn of this year.
The format sees pairs of celebrity chefs and home cooks competing to cook dishes. The home cooks select the ingredients from conveyor belts at timed intervals, and whatever is taken must be used. In each episode, a ‘tasting expert’ will select a winner.
“Food formats are a hit with audiences around the world on all platforms, and Pressure Cooker is a distinct and exciting new format that we are thrilled to be making,” said Bristow, BGM’s president.
“Pressure Cooker not only has Jamie Oliver’s stamp of approval but is a perfect fit for W Network’s brand of food programming, giving passionate home cooks the chance to compete on this high stakes prime time stage,” added Vibika Bianchi, VP, original programming, women and family for Corus.
