Seven picks up Battle Creek
Australian free-to-air broadcaster Network Seven has picked up buzzy upcoming US drama series Battle Creek from Sony Pictures Television.
Seven has a programming partnership with Sony and has also taken its new comedy series Marry Me.
The broadcaster also has an output deal with Disney and will take all of its new shows – including How to Get Away with Murder, The Whispers and Red Band Society – as long as a minimum number of episodes are produced.
Battle Creek is the new cop procedural from Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) and David Shore (House). Produced by SPT, Gran Via Productions, Shore Z and Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions, the series will bow on CBS in the US.
Marry Me is a half-hour single-camera comedy from David Caspe (Happy Endings). US network NBC ordered the series, which is produced by SPT and FanFare Productions, the prodco set up by former ABC programming exec Jamie Tarses.
