Big Star’s Little Star goes international
Several broadcasters have ordered local versions of Big Star’s Little Star, marking the first international deals for the ITV Studios’ entertainment format.
The show was created by ITV’s production company 12 Yard and went out on ITV1 in the UK (pictured). ITV Studios Global Entertainment distributes it and has now cut four international deals for the format.
In Belgium, pubcaster VTM has ordered a six-episode local version of the show, in which celebrities and their kids team up to win money for charity. Inter TV in Ukraine has ordered a ten-episode version of the format.
In Finland, SBSDiscovery Television Oy has commissioned ITV Studios Nordic to produce an eight-episode series, which will air on TV5 in the autumn.
Further afield, Korean channel JTBC has commissioned a 20-episode local version of the series, which will premiere this month.
Mike Beale, director of international formats, ITV Studios, said: “It’s no surprise that [Big Star’s Little Star] is in demand from broadcasters around the world looking for primetime family-friendly entertainment and we look forward to seeing these first international versions.”
