Dance Moms gets UK remake
A+E Networks has ordered a UK version of reality series Dance Moms for its female-skewing channel Lifetime.
ITV Studios-owned producer Shiver will make the UK version of the series, which will be called Dance Mums and launch later this year. It marks the first time the US-originated format has been remade locally.
Dance Mums will be fronted by UK personality Jennifer Ellisson and set in the Fame Academy Dance school in her native Liverpool.
Heather Jones, VP, programming at A+E Networks UK, said: “We are committed to investing in original UK content and this new commission will give our viewers the perfect companion series to the show they already love.”
The original US series is made by Collins Avenue and follows dance teacher Abby Lee Miller as she deals with pushy parents and their child performers. It is the highest rating reality series on Lifetime in the US.
