Lagardère creates formats and digital divisions
French production group Lagardère Entertainment has introduced at MIP TV it’s two new divisions aiming at going further in terms of new formats development and digital.
Reporting to CEO Takis Candilis, Julien Poinot has been named to ramp up the efforts of LE’s producers pool in their search for new formats, across unscripted and fiction genres.
Besides watching trends on the international market, he will also be able to acquire formats, and support the group’s 21 production companies in the development of their own projects in France and abroad.
The new digital division, Lagardère Entertainment Digital, is headed by Rémi Tereszkiewicz, who is in charge of promoting and developing digital opportunities related to Lagardère Entertainment various TV projects. He will also help the producers building an ecosystem of partners to develop multiscreen offers and enhance programs.
“Lagardère Entertainment thus wants to strengthen its ability to build non-linear individually-tailored offers based on linear TV contents” Takis Candilis said.
Lagardère Entertainment said it is also planning to acquire international production companies in the short term. A few months ago, it was one of the suitors for Nice Entertainment Group, which finally went to MTG.
Meanwhile, Lagardère’s French prodco Atlantique has hired French-Swedish producer Patrick Nebout. He will be executive producer, International Drama, and will have to set up partnerships with Euro producers, with a focus on Nordic countries.
