Honourable Woman gets HBO presale
Upcoming Maggie Gyllenhaal drama The Honourable Woman has scored its first presale and will broadcast on HBO Nordics.
Subscribers to the HBO service in Sweden, Denmark and Norway will be able to view the series following the deal. The show debuts globally in the US and UK later this year but has its international launch at MIPTV next week.
The BBC Worldwide-distributed drama stars Gyllenhaal (Dark Knight, Sanctuary) in her first TV role as a woman deeply involved in the Middle East peace process who is placed under secret service scrutiny when a Palestinian businessman is found dead.
BBCWW is selling the 8x60mins/9x50mins show, which was created for the BBC in the UK and SundanceTV in the US, at MIPTV, with Gyllenhaal, creator Hugo Blick and executive producer Gren Brenman (Ripper Street) all heading to Cannes to promote at a screening event.
Richard Hornsby-Smith, director of Nordics, BBC Worldwide said: “The Honourable Woman exemplifies the kind of high calibre production that BBC Worldwide has built a reputation for offering. To have already concluded a presale shows how confident the market is in this hugely compelling drama.”
