Boss of Multichoice owner resigns
Eben Greyling, the CEO of South African conglomerate Naspers’ pay TV arm, owner of MultiChoice, has resigned to pursue new interests after more than 18 years with the group.
Greyling will be replaced by Jim Volkwyn, who was previously head of the group’s pay TV division before taking early retirement. According to Naspers, Greyling will continue to be work with the company on an ad hoc basis to provide assistance if required.
Greyling’s departure is the latest in a series of management changes at Naspers. The group’s CEO, Koos Bekker, is stepping down today, to be replaced by head of e-commerce Bob van Dijk.
“Eben has been instrumental in building our successful pay-TV businesses across the continent. Under his leadership over the last five years the subscriber base and turnover of the pay TV businesses more than doubled,” said Bekker of Greyling’s departure.
“We thank him for his great contribution and sterling service to the group. We wish him all the best as he takes a break to prepare for the next phase of his career.”
