Amazon greenlights originals for Prime Instant Video
Amazon has greenlit a raft of new shows for its Prime Instant Video service.
Having piloted a new batch of comedy, drama and kids programming, the US-based company has now selected six shows it will take to series.
The After, a mystery thriller from Chris Carter (The X-Files), will go to a full series as will Bosch, the crime procedural based on the Michael Connelly book series.
On the comedy front, Mozart in the Jungle has been ordered. The half-hour series is billed as a comedy drama about ‘sex, drugs and classical music’.
Another comedy drama, Transparent, will go to series. It follows a dysfunctional LA family.
Several kids shows have also been given full pick-ups including Wishenproof! from Blue’s Clues creator Angela Santomero and live-action show Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street.
John Goodman political satire Alpha House has also been renewed for a second season.
Amazon Studio’s director Roy Price said that double the number of people watched its second batch of pilots, from which these shows were selected.
