Brooke-Hunt decides against Flying Bark role

Former ABC TV Children’s boss Tim Brooke-Hunt will not be joining Australian indie Flying Bark Productions as previously announced, TBI has learned.

Last month, Flying Bark parent Studio 100 Media unveiled Brooke-Hunt’s return to Flying Bark, where he had spent nearly decade when it traded as Yoram Gross Studios, as board president.

It has emerged this move will now not go ahead, though it is understood there no animosity on either side.

Studio 100 issued a statement confirming the development, which read: “Tim and Flying Bark mutually agreed to part ways because Tim felt the role of president would require more operational involvement than he anticipated, and he was not able to commit more than half his time to the role.”

The role would have Brooke-Hunt work closely with Flying Bark’s general manager and executive producer Jim Ballantine on development projects.

Brooke-Hunt exited ABC Kids in 2013 after six year at the pubcaster, with former BBC Worldwide exec Deidre Brennan taking over as ABC children’s controller.

The news comes in the same week Brooke-Hunt’s former ABC Kids colleague Barbara Uecker exits the pubcaster’s children’s unit after six years.
