Scandi broadcasters buy World Cup doc
Sweden´s SVT, Finland’s YLE, and Denmark’s DR have acquired World Cup documentary special Mata Mata.
Mata Mata (which translates as ‘Kill-Kill’, the Brazilian term for a knockout match) was originally produced by F24 Film for German pubcaster ARD. It follows three talented Brazilian soccer players – Danilo, Thiago and Dante – in the three years ahead of this year’s World Cup, which will be held in Brazil.
The Scandi free-to-air broadcasters will all screen the 1x90mins doc during their coverage of the World Cup in Brazil this summer.
Red Arrow distributes the special internationally. Tim Gerhartz, senior sales manager, Scandinavia, at Red Arrow International said: “By peaking behind the closed doors of the football business, Mata Mata reveals the world of football as we’ve never seen it before. Director-producer Jens Hoffmann has made the perfect special to air during the World Cup.”
