France Televisions peers through Black Mirror
France Télévisions has acquired Charlie Brooker’s dystopian drama satire Black Mirror from Endemol Worldwide Distribution.
The French pubcaster has acquired the show for France 4 following a deal brokered by EWD’s sales director, French-speaking territories, Solange Ribeiro Murphy.
France Television Distribution has also acquired video and VOD rights for the series, which Endemol’s Zeppotron produced.
Black Mirror looks at how technology has transformed modern life through a series of six standalone episodes spanning two seasons. Satirist Brooker penned the show, which first went out on Channel 4 in the UK and has now sold to more than 80 territories around the world.
“France Television is happy to have acquired this unique and ground breaking series for it embodies very well the new identity of its channel, France 4,” said France Télévisions’ artistique manager, acquisitions, Helen Goujet.
