Ex-ITV commissioner Neumann lands at Spun Gold
Former ITV2 and Virgin Media TV commissioner Daniela Neumann has joined UK indie Spun Gold as its first creative director.
Neumann joins from Viasat Broadcasting, where she was VP, content and development responsible for commissioning and channel strategy for 11 free-to-air channels.
At Spun Gold, Neumann will oversee expansion into new areas. The company, lead by former Carlton Television controller Nick Bullen, is behind programmes including CNN and ITV show Prince William’s Passion: New Father, New Hope and The Alan Titchmarsh Show.
Before Viasat, Neumann had been director of programmes at Virgin Media TV, whose assets were eventually acquired by BSkyB, and held numerous roles at ITV, including acting commissioning editor of factual, controller of ITV2 and controller, commissioned programmes for ITV3 and ITV4.
“Since commissioning Spun Gold’s first ever series in 2004 whilst I was at ITV, I’ve really enjoyed watching the company’s success from afar,” she said.
“Spun Gold already has a terrific portfolio of factual programmes and I’m excited to be returning to my production roots and to be able to capitalise on my experience both in the UK and the international market, in order to broaden Spun Gold’s range of top shows.”
Bullen added: “Having Daniela at the creative helm will both enable us to continue growth in our talent-lead programming as well as increasing development in formatted and popular factual shows.”
