VH1 to bare all in Naked Dating
US cable channel VH1 has given the greenlight to Naked Dating (WT), a weekly dating show that will see contestants baring all for love.
Filmed at an unnamed but exotic locale, each close-ended episode of the 10x60mins show will see a man and woman each date two naked suitors before they analyse the experience and decide whether to see their prospective matches again.
“At first, this seems like a show that’s all about a noisy, provocative hook – and we embrace that,” said Susan Levison, executive VP, original programming and production, VH1. “But when you go deeper, it’s really about something that we can all relate to – the search for true love. It’s also a series with heart and masterful storytelling – both earmarks of an engaging, must-watch show.”
Lighthearted Entertainment (The Moment of Truth, Extreme Makeover) created the concept, and founder and president Howard Schultz, plus Rob LaPlante and Jeff Spangler will executive produce the show, along with VH1’s Levison, Jill Holmes, Kristen Kelly and Fernando Mills.
“We created this show based on marrying a provocative idea with a back to basics philosophy,” said Schultz. “With all the dating options in the world, what happens if you take one man and woman and strip them of all their pretenses?”
