MTV poaches BBC Worldwide exec Hakami
MTV has recruited Elli Hakami as executive VP of current series and programming.
She joins from the US division of BBC Worldwide where, as senior VP, factual programming, she oversaw development and production for Worldwide and its US prodco Adjacent.
At MTV she will oversee reality series coming out of MTV’s US East Coast production centre.
Based in New York, she will report to MTV’s programming president Susan Daniels who said: “Over the course of her career, Elli has built a great reputation for delivering incredibly rich and diverse programming during her time with BBC Worldwide Productions, Discovery Channel, TruTV and more. Her expertise and instincts for finding and developing unique unscripted shows and franchises will be an amazing addition to our creative team at MTV.”
“I have always admired MTV’s ability to innovate and create break through content so I am thrilled to join Susanne and the MTV team,” said Hakami.
During her time at BBC Worldwide Hakami worked on shows including What Not to Wear for TLC, Americans in Bed for HBO and Life Below Zero for the National Geographic Channel.
Prior to Worldwide Productions, Hakami launched Discovery’s New York and Los Angeles development offices. Before Discovery, Hakami was a development executive at TruTV.
