BBC One picks up Watch’s Dynamo series
UK broadcaster BBC One has taken the unusual step of acquiring a premium pay TV show, namely Watch’s Dynamo: Magician Impossible, after its first window.
Three episodes of the four-part first season of the magic-themed show are to launch in January on the UK broadcaster in a Saturday access prime slot.
Season one launched on UKTV-owned Watch in 2011 and has been followed by a further two.
Each has been a ratings success for Watch and helped its define its original content output. A fourth season is coming in the New Year.
The BBC owns half of Watch partner UKTV through its commercial arm BBC Worldwide, which operates the multichannel broadcaster with Scripps Networks International.
The move is unusual as the BBC rarely runs second window programmes on its flagship terrestrial channel, especially ones that have run on other UK channels.
The show comes from Phil McIntyre Entertainment and Inner Circle Films.
Magician Dynamo’s latest show Dyanmo Revealed launched on Watch last night.
