Killer Karaoke in tune with Indian channel

KillerKaraokeZodiak Media format Killer Karaoke is being produced for a Tamil-language channel in India.

Zodiak-owned Sol Productions is produced a 42x60mins version of the entertainment format for Zee Tamizh.

This comes after Killer Karaoake made its Asian debut on Thai channel MCOT recently and format deals with BHD in Vietnam, Mang Meas HDTV in Cambodia and Filipino channel TV5. Zodiak Rights’ VP, sales Tara Gaule brokered the Indian deal.

“This is the first time Zee Tamizh has acquired an international format and we are excited that Killer Karaoke, which is called Y This Kolaveri here, is the one,” said Zee Tamizh’s head of business, N.S. Easwaran. “This decision is aligned with our goal to offer new and fresh content to our audience.”

In the US, the show, which is billed as is “the evil adaptation of Zodiak’s Sing if You Can format” in which contestants attempt to perform songs while in difficult comic situations, runs on Turner-owned cable channel truTV, while adaptations have also been created for RTL5 in the Netherlands and Prima TV in Romania.
