Ex-BBC formats producer joins Gedeon

Former BBC producer Krishnan Arora has joined French prodco Gedeon Programmes to develop formats.

Arora has joined on a consultancy basis and work with execs at the Paris-based company to develop new formats for market.

Based in London, Gedeon said he would be “ideally placed to draw on the creativity of UK television for new ideas and formats with international coproduction potential”.

Arora is best known for long spells at UK public broadcaster the BBC and was among the first programmers at Franco-German channel Arte when it launched in 1992. After returning to London, he became head of development at factual producer Antelope and then launched his own company, Electrify.

In 2001, he rejoined the BBC as a commissioning editor for science, arts and history programming and then became the Corporation’s indies middle man, working across all genres. In 2011, he moved back into independent production.

Gedeon has produced more than 500 hours of factual programming.
