CBBC unveils new in-house dramas, comedy
UK children’s channel CBBC has commissioned a trio of in-house scripted series.
Hetty Feather is a 10x30mins series based on a Jacqueline Wilson novel of the same name told through the eyes of children inhabiting the Foundling Hospital in Victorian-era Britain and Helen Blakeman is lead writer. It will air on the net in 2014 and 2015, with Foz Allan executive producing.
World’s End will follow children from different backgrounds who find themselves in a remote castle and go on a rollercoaster adventure in which “life and death decisions slam up against… everyday dilemmas”. Writers Diane Whitley and Danny Spring are behind the 36x15mins project, with Sarah Muller executive producing. A 2014/15 TX date has been set.
Comedy drama 4 O’Clock Club, which premiered on CBBC last year, will return for a third and final season in 2015. Connal Orton is executive producer.
All three shows come from the Salford-based CBBC Productions unit.
