News brief: Warner Bros. renews Irish indie formats deal

Warner Bros. International Television Production has renewed its distribution agreement with Ireland’s Vision Independent Productions, the indie behind singing format The Hit.

Following an initial first look agreement in 2011, WBITVP has acquired international sales rights to VIP’s output for a further three years.

VIP is behind RTE’s talent format The Hit and other shows such as Operation Transformation and The Secret Chef.

“Our first deal with WBITVP brought about one of the most creative periods in our company history. We received a level of support that goes way beyond just financial. Doors open, conversations happen that we never had before and ideas are given a real chance to develop,” said Philip Kampff, managing director, VIP. “We are delighted to renew and continue our relationship with [WBITVP’s senior VP, creative, format development and sales] Andrew Zein and his team.”
