Michael Grade identifies Stars of the Musical Theatre
UK channel BBC Four has commissioned Glasgow-based Finestripe Productions to create Michael Grade’s Stars of the Musical Theatre.
The 1x60mins doc will see Grade, the former BBC, Channel 4 and ITV boss, exploring whether the songs of musical theatre create its stars or vice versa. he will interview stars including Michael Ball, Elaine Paige, Dominic West and Chita Rivera and explore musicals such as My Fair Lady and West Side Story.
Sue Summers, joint managing director of Finestripe Productions, said: “This programme is a follow-up to our last collaboration for BBC Four, Michael Grade’s History of the Pantomime Dame, and we are thrilled to be working together once again and building on the great relationship Finestripe has with Michael.”
Summers executive produces along with Michael Burke.
Grade is best know in TV circles for his roles as BBC One controller, BBC chairman, ITV executive chairman and Channel 4 CEO.
