Getty to handle BBC Motion Gallery footage sales

BBC Worldwide, the global arm of the UK public broadcaster, has inked a deal with Getty Images, under the terms of which it will exclusively represent all of the content in the BBC Motion Gallery.

Motion Gallery previously sold its clips and footage itself, but has handed that responsibility to Getty in a five-year deal announced yesterday. The BBC Motion Gallery brand will remain, Worldwide said.

Worldwide customers will be able to access Motion Gallery services through Getty Images’ websites.

Worldwide will continue to sell content from the education, sports events & live programming categories separately.

Marcus Arthur, managing director, BBC Worldwide UK & ANZ said, “We now have an opportunity to grow BBC Motion Gallery even further by partnering with a truly international player. The deal with Getty Images allows us to tap into their wealth of experience and global footprint in this sector.”
