Greek net dives in with Eyeworks format
Greek commercial broadcaster Antenna Television has ordered its own series of Eyeworks’ diving format Celebrity Splash.
The series, in which celebrities perform dives from boards of up to 10 metres, will launch on ANT1.
While Keshet International’s Rising Star is emerging as the break-out format of MIPCOM 2013, Celebrity Splash was among the most well received at the previous year’s event. The Greek deal marks the twentieth territory to pick up the show in little over 12 months.
“We are very eager to leverage our know-how and expertise to produce competition shows and to deliver to Greek viewers an entertaining, enticing and exciting celebrity show with a twist,” said Antenna Group COO Alexander Holland.
Celebrity Splash launched in November 2012 on Dutch television and has since sold to the likes of ABC in the US and ITV in the UK.
Distributor Eyeworks remains locked in a legal battle over the format after Banijay launched legal action over alleged similarities with its series Stars in Danger.
