Lionsgate, Televisa score overall deal with George Lopez
A joint venture production operation between Lionsgate and Televisa USA has scored an overall film and TV deal with comic George Lopez.
Actor/producer Lopez (The George Lopez Show) will now create films and TV projects with the studio JV, Pantelion Films and South Shore. Principal photography on La Vida Robot, a feature film that represents the deal’s first fruit, has begun.
On the TV front, the partners are creating “several” comedies and an action drama in development with comic book guru Stan Lee.
“We’re thrilled to be in the George Lopez business,” said Pantelion Films CEO and Televisa USA managing director Paul Presburger. “George is a comic superstar and brand name in the Latino community, and he reflects the kind of A-list Latino film and TV talent we’re recruiting for our Pantelion and South Shore partnerships.”
Televisa USA chief creative officer Michael Garcia spearheads the TV projects for both South Shore and Televisa USA.
