Discovery Communications-owned network Eurosport is to launch in the US for the first time through a branded block on cable stablemate net Velocity.
As of Saturday 28, the channel will be launched in an afternoon slot from 1-3pm ET/PT on the upscale male-skewed net, with encore presentations on Sunday mornings.
Eurosport on Velocity will include motorsport broadcasts on the 2013 FIA European Rally Championship, the British Superbikes Championship, the Silk Way Rally and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
This comes after Discovery became the majority stakeholder in Eurosport last year.
“This is the first programming agreement with Discovery since our partnership was forged end of 2012,” said Eurosport Group CEO, Jean-Thierry Augustin. “It’s a great example of the powerful synergies and opportunities we can create together. For the first time in Eurosport’s history, American viewers will have a sight of our channel’s expert sports TV production and best-in-class commentary.”
