Ben Affleck making crime drama pilot for Fox

Ben Affleck is making a pilot for US broadcast network Fox.

Hollywood actor and director will exec produce and direct the pilot of The Middle Man, a crime series set in 1960s Boston and which follows an FBI agent pursuing the mafia and Irish American gangster informant.

The pilot was penned by Glenn Gordon Caron (Medium and Moonlighting). It will be produced by Pearl Street Films, the prodco set up by Affleck and Matt Damon. Pearl Street’s Chay Carter will also exec produce.

The project dates back to 2009, when Carter and Affleck met actor and screenwriter Michael Yebba (Ordinary Man) and screenwriter Emilio Mauro (God Only Knows) during production of The Town.

Production starts early next year.
