Bellon sells American Ninja Warrior, introduces Super Boyz
US-based Bellon Entertainment has licensed NBC entertainment series American Ninja Warrior series to European and Asian broadcasters as it plans to launch a new Japanese format at MIPCOM.
Ninja has sold to TV4 Sport in Sweden, FOUR in New Zealand, Viasat’s TV6 in Lithuania, Fuel TV in Australia and BSkyB’s Challenge in the United Kingdom. It has also gone to Sony-owned AXN in south east Asia.
The Tokyo Broadcasting System-created format is broadcast in the US on NBC in a primetime slot and also by NBCUniversal sister net G4.
Meanwhile, Bellon is taking Battle of the Super Boyz (pictured), another classic TBS format, to market in Cannes for the first time.
The athletic competition show ran on TBS in Japan between 1993 and 2008.
Bellon’s Greg Bellon said: “Battle of the Super Boyz will play nicely in access or the first hour of primetime since it has the qualities schedulers look for when filling those slots – action, popular characters and the ability to join the programme even if the viewer missed the beginning.”
