UKTV buys CBS drama for Alibi

UK digital channels group UKTV has acquired US drama series King & Maxwell from CBS Studios International.

Based on the David Baldacci books, the series follows a pair of secret agents turned private investigators.

UKTV, a joint venture between Scripps Network Interactive and BBC Worldwide, will launch the show on its Alibi crime channel in the first quarter of next year.

The show is made by CBS Television Studios and NCIS showrunner Shane Brennan’s production company.

Catherine Mackin, director of programme acquisitions, UKTV, who brokered the deal, said King & Maxwell will complement Alibi’s existing crime drama slate including Castle and Rizzoli & Isles and it is another example of UKTV premiering hit US content to our viewers first, ahead of other UK broadcasters.”
