QVC launches two new channels
Shopping network QVC is launching two new channels in the UK – QVC Style and QVC Extra.
The networks go live next week and will be available 24 hours a day via Sky, Freesat and on Freeview for viewers with internet connected TVs. Viewers can also tune in online on QVC’s UK website.
The QVC Style channel will be dedicated to fashion, fashion accessories and jewellery. It was previously broadcast as an interactive channel only on Sky.
QVC Extra will showcase the best of QVC’s entire product range and will also air as the night-time feed on QVC’s main channel between 2.00am and 9.00am.
At the same time, QVC announced it is switching off its QVC Active service on Sky – a red button interactive service that lets viewers buy products over their set-top box.
QVC said the QVC Active switch-off comes as more customers choose to use smartphones and tablets, as opposed to the interactive service, for ordering items.
“The launch of these two standalone channels follows the previous huge success of QVC Beauty which trod the same path. These new specialist channels are a logical next step for us as they give viewers the choice of watching our main channel or a QVC channel featuring products of interest to them with another opportunity to see our best products in case they missed them the first time around,” said Brian Farrelly, QVC’s director of media operations.
