Nickelodeon sells toons to China
Viacom International Media Networks has sold several Nickelodeon animated series to broadcasters in China.
The regional Guangdong JiaJia Cartoon Channel has bought the first season of Kung Fu Panda and the first two seasons of Fanboy and Chum Chum.
Kaku Kids, which is part of Beijing TV’s channel portfolio, has also picked up the first run of Kung Fu Panda and the first three seasons of Nick’s signature series SpongeBob SquarePants.
In Hong Kong, free-to-air broadcaster TVB has taken Kung Fu Panda as well as seasons five to seven of Dora the Explorer.
Elsewhere in Asia, Malaysia’s TV3 has bought live-action comedy The Troop, two seasons of Penguins of Madagascar and two of SpongeBob SquarePants.
In Singapore, MediaCorp has acquired a package of Nick’s preschool properties including Dora the Explorer and spin-off Go, Diego Go!
