Blinkbox gets Game of Thrones boost
Tesco-owned video-on-demand store Blinkbox said it saw a 632% year-on-year increase in revenues on Monday after it added season three of HBO drama Game of Thrones to its service.
The revenue lift came as the latest Game of Thrones series went live on the service months ahead of its DVD and Blu-ray release, with a physical launch not expected until February 2014.
The show aired in the UK earlier this year on premium TV network Sky Atlantic.
“Game of Thrones is quite simply epic and it seems to have captured the imagination of the British public. To see such demand in the middle of a heatwave is amazing,” said Blinkbox COO, Adrian Letts.
