BBC America, Two explore sci-fi’s history
US cable channel BBC America and its UK pubcaster cousin BBC Two are to coproduce a four-part exploring the popularity of science fiction.
The docu-series, My God, It’s Full of Stars: a Journey to the Edge of Science Fiction (WT), will seek to be the “definitive television history” of the genres, according to producers.
Each episode will explore a different theme, namely time travel, space exploration, robots and artificial intelligence, and aliens; and will be made in collaboration with the filmmakers, actors, writers and graphic artists who created the myths and legends around the genre.
Michael Poole is executive producer for the BBC’s UK arm, with Richard de Croce and Rachel Smith doing the same for BBC America. Cream Productions is also attached to the project.
