Disney buys Wolfblood for global channels and new German service
Disney Channel has taken free and pay TV rights to hit live action kids series Wolfblood in Germany, the US and several other territories.
It has picked up Wolfblood from ZDF Enterprises in a deal that gives it rights to the live-action series in Germany as well as in Italy, France, Russia, and the CEE, Benelux and Middle East regions. The deal also covers US rights to the series.
The show is a coproduction between ZDF and CBBC in the UK. The mystery adventure show follows ‘wolfbloods’, who are neither completely wolves nor completely humans, but can shift between the two forms at will. Season two is currently in production.
Ana Izquierdo Lowry, head of acquisitions, The Walt Disney Company, EMEA said: “We are thrilled to have secured the rights to the European-produced, live action drama for kids Wolfblood, which is set to roll out on Disney Channel across a selection of markets within EMEA, the US, Latin America and Russia.”
