TLC Asia buys ABC Oz’s winemaker series
ABC Commercial, the sales arm of the Australian public broadcaster, has shopped its lifestyle series The Flying Winemaker to Discovery Networks Asia Pacific.
Discovery will put the show out on its female-skewed TLC channel in Asia. It follows master Hong Kong-based winemaker Eddie McDougall as he embarks on a wine and food-themed trip across Asia.
The show is made by Australian indie WD Entertainment and was launched internationally at ATF last year.
Charmaine Kwan, vice president, programming, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, said: “We are always looking for fresh new talent and concepts for TLC in Asia-Pacific. This series brings a brand new face to the channel, and a concept which marries food and wine, two topics much loved by our viewers.”
