Indian net woos Warner’s Bachelorette
Indian channel Life OK has become the latest to get its own version of Warner Bros. International Television Production’s much travel romance format The Bachelor.
The Star TV-owned channel will launch 26-episode series The Bachelorette – Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika in September, with SOL Productions attached to produce.
The deal represents the first time Warner Bros. has sold a localised version of The Bachelor into India. It was created by Mike Fleiss and has been sold around the world.
The Indian format will see 25 men competing to win the heart of Bollywood celebrity Mallika.
“The Bachelorette India – Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika brings together Bollywood and television to tell a magical fairy tale. We are proud to be associated with a famous international format – The Bachelor – that has many successful seasons to its credit in over 25 countries,” said Life OK’s general manager Ajit Thakur.
Earlier this month, Australia’s Network Ten ordered its own version of The Bachelor, which Shine Australia is attached to produce. The format has run for 17 seasons in the US on ABC.
