Electus invests in former SPT exec’s prodco

US-based Electus has made a strategic investment into Hud:sun Media, a production and entertainment company fronted by former Sony Pictures Television producer Michael Rourke.

Following the investment, Ben Silverman’s Electus will work with Hud:sun to develop and produce television and digital programming and content marketing for local US and international markets.

Hud:sun currently produces Pregnant in Heels for cable network Bravo and doc series I’m Having Their Baby for Oxygen. It has also produced digital content for the likes of Yahoo!, AOL and Conde Naste and YouTube fashion network Channel 9.

Its CEO Rourke is best known for syndicated courtroom series such as Judge Hatchett, Judge Maria Lopez and Judge David Young. He also exec produced daily talk show Ricki Lake.

He and his team produce premium content that truly resonates with audiences all around the world,” said Chris Grant, CEO, Electus. “Hud:sun Media is already a very strong independent player and we believe this partnership makes Hud:sun’s potential limitless.”

Rourke added Electus’ “power and reach, coupled with the influence and expertise” of media investor MDC would give Hud:sun “tremendous momentum for the future”.

IAC-backed Electus last year acquired Tim Puntillo’s production company Mannahatta.
