Telemundo taps former Univision exec for strategy role
Telemundo has hired Mario Ruiz, a former talent exec at Univision. He will be senior VP of talent development and strategy at the NBCUniversal-owned US Hispanic broadcaster.
Having worked as VP, talent, at Univision between 2004 and 2011, Ruiz was most recently at the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
Based in Telemundo’s Miami headquarters, Ruiz will report to Alfredo Richard, senior VP, communications and talent strategy.
He will develop Telemundo’s overall business strategy as it relates to on-air talent across all areas of Telemundo Media including Telemundo Studios, Alternative Programming, Sports, News, Telemundo Station Group, Telemundo International, Marketing, Sales, Digital, Business Affairs and cable channel mun2.
“Mario brings a wealth of expertise in identifying and developing talent in the Hispanic entertainment industry,” said Alfredo Richard.
Prior to his stint at Univision, Ruiz worked at music major EMI, running EMI Mexico between 1994 and 1999.
