November confirmed as ITV drama boss

Acting ITV director of drama Steve November has been confirmed in the role permanently.

November has been in the role on an interim basis since previous incumbent Laura Mackie announced she and ITV controller of drama commissioning Sally Haynes were leaving to launch her own drama indie, MainStreet Pictures, backed by Lorraine Heggesey’s Boom Pictures.

November has been with ITV for well over a decade, and was previously head of continuing drama where he oversaw programmes such as Whitechapel and Foyle’s War. He is also a former producer on long running soap Coronation Street.

Earlier this week, November ordered a second season of ITV1’s much lauded crime drama Broadchurch, which Shine International sells on the international market.
