HBO Europe’s Burning Bush to get US outing
Burning Bush, the big-ticket original series for HBO Europe, will be shown on HBO in the US.
The three-part series about events following the death of Czech student Jan Pallach in late 1960s Prague was HBO Europe’s biggest commitment to original programming to date and is currently being shown at various festivals and markets in Europe.
It has been shown throughout the region and Beta Film recently announced that it had taken international rights to the three-part series, which was made by Czech producer Nutprodukce.
The fact it is not being sold by HBO’s own programme sales unit led to some speculation it would not be transmitted on HBO in the US. However, it will go out on the channel a spokesman confirmed, adding that no air date has yet been set.
Beta has yet to announce international deals for Burning Bush, having only launched it at MIPTV.
HBO Europe, meanwhile, is understood to be lining up its next original productions.
