Nickelodeon’s Cohn exits
Nickelodeon’s long-serving Marjorie Cohn is exiting the kids’ cable channel after 26 years.
The latest top level restructure at the Viacom-owned sees Cohn, currently Nick’s president of content development, opting to leave almost a year after she added animation and digital development to her live-action slate, following the departure of Browne Johnson.
Nick’s president of content development and production Russell Hicks, who was installed last year, as been moving production and development execs to LA from New York in recent months. Cohn was based on the East Coast, and all content execs will now report into Hicks.
The news, first reported by Deadline, represents the latest stage in Nick’s restructure as it battles to regain ground lost in the ratings war with Disney Channel over recent years. Additionally, executive VP, Nickelodeon Productions, Alison Dexter is also leaving.
Cohn is credited with developing live-action series such as iCarly, Big Time Rush and Victorious, and more recently, animated titles including Avatar: the Last Airbender and Penguins of Madagascar.
