Channel 5 buys Irish drama

The UK’s Channel 5 has followed up its acquisition of The Bible by taking Irish drama Love/Hate, which was a hit for RTE.

The show is sold by ITV Studios Global Entertainment. In Ireland, it scored critical acclaim and strong audience shares when it ran toward the end of last year.

Channel 5 has bought both seasons one and two and will run them as 10x60mins season.

The Octagon Film-produced show has previously sold into 72 territories. It tells the story of Dublin gang war and its effect on the communities around it.

The news comes hot on the heels of Channel 5’s acquisition of US cable mega-hit The Bible.
