MIPTV News: Mondo lines up Home Plate MENA deal

Italy’s children’s firm Mondo TV heads to Cannes having secured Middle Eastern and North African rights to programming from Bill Schultz’s US toon studio Home Plate Entertainment.

Under terms of the deal, Mondo will sell series such Wild Grinders, which Home Plate produces for US preschool network Nicktoons, across MENA. The show is a half-hour animated series based on pro skateboarder and TV personality Rob Dyrdek.

The deal covers exclusive free and pay TV broadcast and non-exclusive on-demand rights.

Home Plate launched in 2010 following Schultz’s departure from Moonscoop, while Mondo is headquartered in Rome and comprises a total of nine companies.
