MTV and Strix ink Scandi fomat deal

Strix has optioned MTV’s reality competition format The Challenge: Battle of the Exes.

The Scandi format producer and distributor has optioned the show in Denmark, Norway, Sweden as well as the Netherlands and the deal marks the first time the show, in which ex-contestants from reality shows compete with one another, has been sold as a format.

MTV parent group Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) said it has also cut a raft of other format agreements.

In the Nordic region, indie producers’ group Nice has optioned Spike TV’s The Joe Schmo Show, the reality hoax format revived in the US earlier this year after a nine-year break.

Everlasting Production has optioned Logo’s sex therapy format Bad Sex for French and Belgian markets.

In the Middle East producer Charisma has optioned what is often called the first-ever reality series, The Real World.
