Channel 4 launching egg-watching series
UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a series of Easter programmes revealing the “wonderful – and downright weird – world of eggs”.
Easter Eggs Live will follow a series of eggs from different animals including be crocodiles, emus, penguins, spiders and turtles. Presenters will monitor the action from a specially-built hatchery. One they have hatched a ‘Baby Cam’ will follow the new baby animals.
The egg programmes were commissioned by Channel 4’s commissioning editor for specialist factual, Sara Ramsden. They will be produced by UK indie Windfall Films, which made Foxes Live – Wild in the City.
She said: “As well as being a fascinating series of programmes, Easter Eggs Live is a huge technical challenge, based as it is on 17 live streams of hatching eggs.”
Using the very latest equipment, including powerful scanners and super-sensitive microphones, the programmes will reveal the beginnings of life like never before and show the remarkable, life-or-death journeys animals make as they break out and begin life in the outside world.
The programmes were commissioned by Channel 4’s commissioning editor for specialist factual, Sara Ramsden.
Channel 4 said it will stream the egg action live at channel4.com/eggs.
