Nordic World ties up Scandi trio
Scandi sales alliance Nordic World has scored exclusive distribution deals with a trio of local producers.
Among the deals, Nordic World has taken on worldwide representation of Swedish prodco OTW Television’s catalogue and formats, snatching them from Sparks Network (aka Eccho Rights), of which OTW was previously a member.
OTW, part of Scandinavian media group Forma Contract, specialises in lifestyle, factual and advertiser-funded programming but is seeking to boost its international formats business.
In Sweden, it has launched formats such as Everyday Heroes and The Bucket List and recently appointed former development chiefs from Eyeworks and Jarowskij, namely Patrik Axelsson and Anna-Karin Ruckert, respectively.
“OTW’s success is built on creativity, which is why we are now strengthening our development efforts. We truly believe that Nordic World’s extensive international network and its focus on Nordic content will help us to bring our ideas and creativity to more viewers around the world.”
Nordic World has also tied up deals with Danish indies Immergut, best known for its improv comedy format Hotel Zimmerfrei; and Freeport, which produces primetime documentaries, reality series and factual entertainment shows.
Nordic World will launch Freeport format Speedomania at MIPTV and claims these latest deals gives it the largest roster of Nordic-originated formats.
Jan Salling said: “It is independents like OTW, Immergut and Freeport, with their creative courage and irreverent approach, that are largely responsible for the Nordic region’s reputation as a breeding ground for fresh and original television. From the outset, our mission has been to fill our catalogue with only the best Nordic content. These deals bring that ambition a step closer.”
